Rheumatologie und Immunologie

Rheumatology and immunology are integrated into the medical curriculum through a variety of required and elective courses. The fundamentals of our discipline are taught in Compulsory Module XIV – Fundamentals of Internal Medicine II and in the Compulsory Track Symptoms and Differential Diagnoses I. In addition, there are numerous opportunities for in-depth study during the Clinical-Practical Year (KPJ), through clinical rotations, free electives, Special Study Modules (SSMs), and the Special Research Module (SFM). Our discipline is also represented in the dental curriculum in the required module ZPM X – Internal Medicine. Electives, literature clubs, thesis projects, and the annual Rheumatology Summer School offer dedicated students further opportunities to engage intensively with our exciting field.

Research-led teaching

Rheumatology and immunology deal with systemic diseases and are therefore closely linked to numerous other disciplines. This interdisciplinary nature is reflected in both clinical care and in research and teaching. Our interdisciplinary lecture series are held in cooperation with other departments of internal medicine, the Division of Pathophysiology and Immunology, and the University Department for Orthopedics and Traumatology.
